Finding it difficult to breathe?
No doubt, the issue of environmental pollution is a well,
Flogged horse. However, this has to be discussed repeatedly so that people do not forget about it.
I will only talk about Air pollution here. It was terrifying to read about the poor Air Quality Index in new Delhi due to crop burning by the farmers in near-by areas.
New Delhi is our capital city. If they cannot control the air pollution there what about the rest of the country?
Mumbai has for long been talking about pollution due to industries Located in the suburbs burning of plastic and other waste in the dumping grounds. There is vehicular pollution.
Can't this all be monitored, controlled? Can't the people responsible be punished? It is not difficult, I suppose, for the sarpanch of the village to find out which farmer is burning his old crops, and pull him up. It is not difficult to find out the polluting industries.
We have enough manpower to monitor all this and control it. But is there the will to do it? Or is it still the 'chalta hai' attitude which will lead more and more people to suffer from asthma and other respiratory diseases?
